Early Years Learning Framework

A NATIONAL EARLY EDUCATION FRAMEWORK FOR CHILDREN AGES BIRTH TO FIVE YEARS.

The Early years learning framework (EYLF) was developed by the Australian department of education and it ensures that all children receive quality education programs in their early years. Lees Learning centre incorporates the framework into daily practice and uses it to support all curriculum decisions.
The five areas of learning and development that comprise the Early Years Learning Framework are: (1) Children have a strong sense of identity. (2) Children are connected with and contribute to their world. (3) Children have a strong sense of wellbeing. (4) Children are confident and involved learners. (5) Children are effective communicators.
The EYLF describes childhood as a time of ‘belonging, being and becoming”

BELONGING

Belonging is the basis for living a fulfilling life. Children feel they belong because of the relationships they have with their family, community, culture and place.

BEING

Being is about living here and now. Childhood is a special time in life and children need time to just ‘be’ – time to play, try new things and have fun.

BECOMING

Becoming is about the learning and development that young children experience. Children start to form their sense of identity from a young age, which shapes the kind of adult they will become.
